What fun! Free Events at the Maui Film Festival.

It is mid June and that means it is time for the Maui Film Festival. From June 11th through the 15th the island will be full of stars and movies in many venues.

Did you know there are many free events to enjoy. That’s right FREE. Look for films at these three venues Starlight Cinema, SandDance Theater and Phoebe in Wonderland a Special Event at the Sky Dome Theater.

On June 11th at 8pm come to the Starlight Cinema to enjoy a night under the stars at Mokapu Beach in front of the new Baccarat. The night starts with Humpback Code a breathtaking documentary which unravels some of the mystery of the social life of the Hawaiian Humpback Whales. Then enjoy a live tour of the cosmos with Maui’s Harriet Witt an expert in astronomy, Polynesian celestial folklore. End the night with Hawaiian Starlight outstanding true color images from the summit of Mauna Kea.

On June 12th, 13th , 14th and 15th at 8pm the SandDance Theater on Wailea Beach will host free events. On the 12th families can enjoy a night out under the stars watching the Little Mermaid. The 14th you can watch Explore! A shorts showcase that takes you from Hawaiian Surfing to India and China. And the 15th features the Live Earth Showcase with shorts about global warming and the environment. Don’t worry there are a few with a twist of humor.

The most anticipated of free events will be June 13th at the Skydome Theater at the Wailea Beach Marriott. At 8pm enjoy Phoebe in Wonderland the newest film featuring Felicity Huffman. The film stars Elle Fanning as a little girl who won't, or can't, follow the rules and seeks enlightenment from her unconventional drama teacher.

Felicity Huffman will be one of the movie stars receiving awards at the film festival so chances are you will be able to spot her at this event.
